Jessica Frazier discusses Hindu creation on Radio 4

A hindu deity

Dr Jessica Frazier from the Department of Religious Studies will be a guest on Thursday’s edition of In Our Time on Radio 4, a live BBC  discussion series exploring the history of ideas, presented by Melvyn Bragg.

Jessica will be engaging in discussion with Professor Chakravarthi Ram-Prasad (Lancaster University) and Professor Gavin Flood (University of Oxford) about the Hindu ideas of Creation.

According to most Western religious traditions, a deity was the original creator of the Universe. Hinduism, on the other hand, has no single creation story. For over a thousand years, Hindu thinkers have taken a variety of approaches to the question of where we come from, with some making the case for divine intervention and others asking whether it is even possible for humans to comprehend the nature of creation.
