New scholarships available for 2014/15

We are pleased to announce our participation in University-wide and School specific scholarship schemes at the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL) at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

For undergraduates, the University has Kent Scholarship for Academic Excellence 2014. This scholarship is worth £2,000 a year, renewable on an annual basis (subject to good academic progress). It may be held in conjunction with a University bursary. For more details, please see the Kent Scholarship page here:  www.kent.ac.uk/scholarships/undergraduate/

For postgraduate taught, the Graduate School Scholarships are available to current final-year undergraduates at Kent to continue to postgraduate study at the University, which offer a £1,000 reduction on tuition fees.

There are number of postgraduate research scholarships available for PhD studentships, including the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE), offering full AHRC funding for Home/EU doctoral students.

In preparation for the University’s 50th anniversary in 2015, SECL is delighted to be able to offer five 50th Anniversary Graduate Teaching Assistant Scholarships. These scholarships cover full home/EU fees plus a maintenance grant and a salary which will total an amount equivalent to that offered by the Research Councils for 2014. The scholarships will be offered for one year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

The School also offers the Susan Cohen Doctoral Scholarship, awarded in memory of Susan Cohen, who graduated from Kent in 1991 in Italian and Comparative Literature. The scholarship supports UK doctoral research students in Comparative Literature, German, French, Hispanic Studies, or Italian, and covers tuition fees for a maximum of three years at the home rate.

The School also offers Language Lector Scholarships for the 2014/15 academic year.
