Dr James Fowler from the Department of French has just been awarded a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship grant, which will make it possible for Professor Daniel Brewer to visit the University for lectures in the forthcoming Spring Term.

Professor Brewer is based in the Centre for Early Modern History at the University of Minnesota, and is an influential writer on the forms and legacy of eighteenth-century Enlightenment thought in France. He is the author of Enlightenment Past: Reconstructing Eighteenth-Century French Thought (Cambridge, 2008).

The Leverhume Trust is a UK research charity that makes awards for the support of research and education.

We look forward to welcoming Professor Brewer in 2014.
