Applications open for the Susan Cohen Doctoral Scholarship

The Susan Cohen Doctoral Scholarship is awarded in memory of Susan Cohen, who graduated from the University of Kent in 1991 in Italian and Comparative Literature.

The scholarship supports UK doctoral research students in Comparative Literature, German, French, Hispanic Studies or Italian, and covers tuition fees for a maximum of three years at the home rate.

Criteria

  • Hold a good honours degree (First or 2:1) or a Master’s degree at merit or distinction.
  • Hold an offer of a place on a full-time or part-time doctoral research degree in the School of European Culture and Languages for the academic year commencing September 2013.
  • The Susan Cohen Scholarship is open to UK fee-paying students only.

How to apply

  • Candidates must make a formal application to study on an eligible doctoral programme and have received an offer of a place to commence their studies in September 2013.
  • Candidates must then send a supporting statement, not exceeding 1,000 words, outlining why they feel they are suitable to be considered for this scholarship.

  • Note that an application for this award and the SECL GTA awards above can be combined.
  • The deadline for applications: 5.00pm, Sunday 17 March 2013.
