Improved success rates in AHRC funding applications

Last week, The Times Higher Education (15 November) included a piece on the improved success rates for Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) applications in 2011-12.

A closer look at the data highlights the success rate for University of Kent applications to the AHRC during this period.

In terms of how our success compares to other Universities in the UK, we were:

  • Joint 8th in terms of the number of applications to AHRC
  • Joint 10th in the number of awards from AHRC
  • 16th in the total value of awards from AHRC

And our success rate for the year was 46% overall, which is an improvement on last year.

Out of 24 applications, 11 research projects were awarded funding from AHRC, which resulted in over £1 million being awarded to the University of Kent for our research.

This is testament to the high quality research at Kent, and the on-going efforts of the academic staff to ensure that their research and teaching is among the best in their field of study.
