Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo

Next week, there will be a series of events running that have been organised by the Italian Department at Kent to coincide with the 12th Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (International Italian Language Week) sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in London.

Monday 15th October

The week’s events start with a showing of an Italian film Terraferma.  Terraferma, a film by director Emanuele Crialese, will be presented by Marco Piasentier and Diego Ferrante from the Italian Department.  The showing is in Grimond Lecture Theatre 3, and starts at 6:30pm.

Monday is also the closing date for the Italian Photo Competition, which offers a prize of an Italian Language course in Italy.

Tuesday 16th October

There is an Italian book fair, organised by the Italian Bookshop in London and based in the Gulbenkian Cafe from 10am to 4pm.  You can visit the stand, take part in the raffle and win a book or a DVD about Italy!

Friday 19th October

A one man show will appear in Grimond Lecture Theatre 2, at 6:30pm:

“From the Mafia’s gestures to the codes for the perfect flirt: an imaginary trip seasoned with Sicilian charm”

a show by Marco Gambino, introduced by Anna Maria Giuffrida, Lettrice at the Italian Department.
