Who You Calling Fossil?

We threw the doors open to our Darwin Lab one weekend in February to share some of our collection with these young enthusiasts.

Dr Chris Dunmore and Dr Geoff Smith ran a workshop with The Young Archaeologist’s Club of Canterbury –the only UK-wide club where 8–16 year olds can participate in real archaeology.

‘We showed the children our collection of Paleolithic artefacts and fossil human collections. They had lots of great questions.’

First they gave the group a run-down of human evolution and the technology of our ancestors (the palaeolithic) then focused on the Southeast looking at local stone tool finds and what that tells us about our ancestors and their extinct cousins in Kent.

The YAC usually meet one Saturday morning a month in Canterbury.
