Eco-Anxiety in the Age of Climate Change

How will a community-led group help students with Eco-Anxiety?

Looking for a place to find a community to help ease anxiety around climate change? We might just have the right thing for you.

Dr Helen Pheasey, lecturer in Conservation Science, is leading ‘the Climate Anxiety Support Group’. This group aims to address eco-anxiety, by providing a safe space for those affected and overwhelmed by it with help from peers and the well-being team.

Those of us in the conservation discipline are disproportionately exposed to the issues surrounding the climate crisis and loss of biodiversity. This exposure can lead to feelings of anxiety and helplessness, which at times can be overwhelming

The Climate Anxiety Support Group will run alongside the Climate Cafe, aiming to provide a space for people to talk through their climate-related worries and concerns. In addition, it will provide opportunities to get involved with activism, climate action, and nature-based activities.

If you are suffering from climate and ecoanxiety, you are not alone. Please do join us for a cup of tea and a chat. We hope to see you there.

The first session will be from 4-6pm on Wednesday 26th October in the Swingland Room.
