This month’s DICE Talk will showcase research currently being undertaken by students on DICE’s MSc programmes.

Tom Wells, on the MSc Conservation and International Wildlife Trade course, will be talking about his research on the trade in freshwater turtles in Bolivia, where he interviewed people and did market surveys in four cities to understand how heavily the different species are used for food, medicine and pets.

Fiona Dobson, on the MSc Conservation Biology programme, will be talking about her work testing a promising new approach for conservation fundraising, which focuses on funding appeals based on nature reserves and other conservation areas rather than charismatic species.

The talk will take place in Rutherford Lecture Theatre from 18.00 -19.00 on Thursday 22nd August. The talk is free and open to all with free parking on the Canterbury campus from 17.00.

The monthly talks have focused on the work of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) with many of the world’s rarest and most endangered species.

For those who missed previous DICE Talks, many are now available online.
