Dr Konstanze N’Guessan welcomed as Erasmus visitor

Professor Joao de Pina-Cabral and Dr Konstanze N'Guessan with students of Ethnographies 2

Last week, as part of an Erasmus exchange, the School of Anthropology and Conservation received our colleague Dr Konstanze N’Guessan, who comes from the Department of Anthropology and African Studies at the University of Mainz in Germany.

Dr N’Guessan is a social anthropologist working on Ghana and the Ivory Coast, and her recent project is on parenting and care amongst the middle classes of the latter. She collaborated with Professor João de Pina-Cabral in teaching the module Ethnographies 2, where there was discussion with the students around modes of presenting ethnographic research.

Dr N’Guessan also gave a talk as part of the School’s Social Anthropology seminar series entitled ‘Doing being parent: ethnographic research on parenting in Côte d’Ivoire’.
