DICE Talk: ‘Conserving Brazil’s mountain-top frogs’

Dr Barata in the field (Itambe Maio) in 2013

The School of Anthropology and Conservation has created a new series named DICE Talks that will take place every month and will consist of a public lecture by DICE staff, students and alumni.

This month’s DICE Talk will occur on December 13th and be given by Dr Izabela Barata, a DICE alumna who recently successfully defended her PhD thesis. It’s entitled ‘Conserving Brazil’s mountain-top frogs.’

Dr Barata will be talking about the findings of her PhD research on tropical mountain frogs and sharing fieldwork stories of her trips to Brazil. Izabela’s research investigates the ecological drivers of population dynamics and distributions, revealing patterns of amphibian declines and threats in tropical mountains.

The talk will take place in Grimond Lecture Theatre 2 starting at 18:00 and will last for one hour. Prior to this, there will be mince pies and drinks served in the School foyer in Marlowe building from 17:00.

The event is free and open to all.
