Sustainable Intensification Research Platform (SIP) newsletter launched.

Dr Robert Fish, Reader in Human Ecology, is a member of SIP, a multi-institutional project team developing understandings and approaches to the idea of ‘Sustainable Intensification’ in Agriculture. ComprisedĀ of agricultural researchers and practitioners, SIP investigates actions and methods that may help navigate the contested space of agricultural landscapes, delivering profitable farming and food production alongside a wide range of environmental benefits such as biodiversity, alleviating flood risk and carbon storage.

As Dr Fish states in his editorial to SIP’s inaugural newsletter, their “integrated, multi-level and interdisciplinary approach” is focused very much on legacy, “informing the evidence that will help shape long-term policy for farming, but also providing a fair deal of insight for practical farming and models of working.”
