Mike Poltorak Wins Best Teacher Award

We are delighted with the wonderful news that Mike Poltorak, Lecturer in Social and Visual Anthropology, has won the Kent Union Best Teacher Award.

This honour demonstrates that SAC has the best teacher in the whole university according to a student vote run by Kent Student Union. More than 500 university staff were nominated for the raft of awards.

The audience at the ceremony were moved by Mike’s touching acceptance speech and by a short video featuring one of our final year students, Jesse Tomlinson, who explained why he had nominated Mike. In his speech Mike affirmed how much joy he gets from teaching students in our school and how inspired he is by how students use what we give them for meaningful, creative purpose and engagement in the wider world. Jesse Tomlinson commented on how accessible and engaged Mike is and how successfully he integrates his life experience and research with his teaching. He also very much values how Mike presents SAC as a community of learning. Like our students, we are very proud of Mike and owe him our sincere thanks and congratulations!
