Applications sought for ESRC PhD Scholarships

We have been able to extend the application deadline for two project-linked ESRC PhD scholarships to conduct anthropological research on  the socioeconomic consequences of the financial crisis in Greece and Portugal.

The new deadline of 20 May will allow interested and appropriately qualified individuals to apply for this wonderful opportunity to work under the supervision of Professor João de Pina-Cabral and Dr Dimitrios  Theodossopoulos and participate in a ESRC funded project, entitled: Household survival in crisis: austerity and  relatedness in Greece and Portugal.

The  studentships cover both fees and stipends, are part of the South East Doctoral  Training centre and will commence in October 2014. The full studentship is  open to UK nationals or EU nationals who have been ordinarily resident in the  UK through the 3-year period preceding the start of the course (including for  full-time education). Applicants should also have a Master’s degree and training in Anthropology,  understand and speak either Greek or Portuguese. One of the two successful  candidates will conduct research in Greece, while the other will conduct  research in Portugal.
