Stirling Lecture 2012 on Tuesday 27th November

This year’s Stirling Lecture will be taking place on Tuesday 27th November 2012 in Keynes Lecture Theatre 1 at 6.30pm. It is open to all, and will be followed by a buffet reception in Keynes Atrium.

The speaker this year, Professor Chris Hann of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, is particularly special. He is a former Professor of Social Anthropology here at the University of Kent, and knew Paul Stirling (after whom the lecture is named) quite well.

The title of Chris’ lecture is ‘The Turkish Nation-State and the Chimera of Modernity’.

The Stirling Lecture is held annually in honour of Professor Paul Stirling, founding Professor of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Kent.

The lecture is open to all. It is not necessary to pre-register, or to book in advance: just turn up on the day!

Don’t miss this once-a-year event!
