Charity Cycle Ride

Becky Harris graduted last week from her BSc Anthropology and is now undertaking a new challenge!

Becky has been volunteering with the development charity Raleigh International and she is now hoping to continue this work in Nicaragua. Becky gave the following information:

I’m going to be volunteering in Nicaragua (Central America) this autumn for 10 weeks. I will be working with the charity Raleigh International as part of their International Citizenship Service programme (ICS). The ICS programme is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and aims to bring young people from different countries together to fight poverty.

I will be working on a variety of projects together with local Nicaraguan volunteers. We will be helping to build essential facilities such as composting toilets, running educational workshops providing information on health and hygiene, and contributing to the improvement of the overall health and poverty issues faced by the local people.

All volunteers have been selected because of their long term sustainable development approach to international development. As an ICS volunteer I will be making a positive contribution to fight poverty in one of the world’s poorest countries

Support Becky

Becky needs to raise £800 by 12th August. The money raised will go towards creating the opportunity for other young people from the UK to volunteer, and most importantly, young people from developing countries such as Nicaragua. If you would like to support Becky please use her Just Giving page – link is below.
