The School would like to congratulate Mary Butcher on the announcement of her MBE!
Mary is an honorary research associate within the School and plays an active part in teaching on our MSc Ethnobotany programme. Mary’s MBA recognises her outstanding work as a craftswoman specialising in basket making. In a report in the Whitstable Times Mary is quoted as saying, “I’m absolutely thrilled and a bit amazed by it all. The nice thing is that it was instigated by a former student of mine. Then other students, professionals and organisations wrote letters of support. I will be a bit nervous to meet the Queen but it’s very exciting.
