DICE PhD student, Gonçalo M. Rosa, has recently been appointed Editor in Chief of ALYTES (the scientific journal of the International Society for the Study and Conservation of Amphibians).

This prestigious honour will give Gonçalo the opportunity to revamp the journal including the development of a website.

“ALYTES began its publication in 1982 and is the only journal in the world dealing scientifically with amphibians only. In general, other journals merge both amphibians and reptiles in the broad herpetology category. But, despite being cold-blooded, amphibians and reptiles have quite different life histories and relationships, being two vertebrate classes that should deserve a different attention.

The idea is to give a new image to this journal providing a new background, and transform it into a new and modern journal. ALYTES should become, mostly, a place which publishes papers on all aspects of amphibian biology, but with a major role in conservation and ecology, facilitating the whole publication process as well as access to the journal contents.” Gonçalo Rosa
