Principal Investigator: Daniela Peluso
Project dates: 2009 – 2011
Funding: Ideas Factory Grant, University of Kent Innovation and Enterprise

The grant allowed Dr. Peluso, in collaboration with the School of Drama and the School of Psychology, to design a multi-disciplinary module aimed at communicating anthropological insights to the broader local business community. In preparation for this, Dr. Peluso hosted a workshop in Canterbury on multi-disciplinary creative methods specifically aimed around values.

Increasingly, large and small businesses are coming to recognize that value-driven organisations, or divisions within them, are the leaders in their fields. Yet many companies struggle to understand what values matter most to their employees and other stakeholders. Anthropology can play a critical role in envisioning, developing, aligning and embedding company values, using participatory and all-encompassing approaches thus helping create a more positive workplace experience.

Dr. Peluso and fellow anthropologist Dr. Gareth Burr, conduct regular workshops on “Value Dilemmas” opening a space and a means for local businesses to develop and examine their core values in ways that are meaningful to all members of their business.
