Bill and Melinda Gates funding awarded for Universal Influenza Vaccine project

At the recent ISIRV OptionsX conference in Singapore, the Gates foundation announced Grand Challenges Grantees for their Universal Influenza Vaccine Development call. This included The University of Cambridge (led by Jonathan Heeney) in partnership with the University of Regensburg, the University of Kent (Nigel Temperton), Imperial College London and Public Health England.

This project is exciting for the Temperton lab as their influenza pseudotyping technologies are integral to the DIOS-UIVA (Digital Immune Optimized & Selected Universal Influenza Vaccine Antigens) pipeline. Previous PhD students of the Viral Pseudotype Unit at the Medway School of Pharmacy, George Carnell and Rebecca Kinsley, are also part of the Project team.
