We are delighted to announce Professor Susan Barker has joined the Medway School of Pharmacy in April 2019 from UCL where she was the Associate Professor of Pharmacy.
Prof. Susan Barker held her first staff meeting earlier this month where she discussed her bold ambition to drive the school to be one of the top 5 of UK Schools of Pharmacy. She placed great emphasis on the importance of research, open communication and shared responsibility.
Following completion of her professional qualifications, Prof. Barker spent nine years working in research for the pharmaceutical company Merck, Sharp and Dohme, before returning to academia at the University of East Anglia.
Whilst at the University of East Anglia she was the recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award. Her research is in the area of medicine design, with a focus on ocular medicines and nanofabrication technologies.
Prof. Susan Barker appointment was announced back in January 2019 and was warmly welcomed by Professor Mark Burchell, Dean of Sciences at the University of Kent and Professor Martin Snowden, Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Head of the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich.
