Game On!

Game-based literacy programmes

This year has seen the start of a new series of game-based literacy projects led by the University of Kent. This term year 7 students at Brompton Academy have been playing our carefully curated suite of creative tabletop games – and using them to inspire imaginative writing. Through these games and writing activities, students have built key literacy and oracy skills, including persuasion, description, creativity, inference, a broad vocabulary, and an understanding of narrative structure and genre.

You can read the writing produced by our first cohort of students to undertake this project on the School of English outreach blog here. To find out more about this project, and related activities please email outreach@kent.ac.uk
