There and Back Again: Journeys through the Medieval World, an exhibition exploring aspects of the medieval world in England and Kent. Using material across collections in collaboration with our partners, the exhibition tells the story of medieval maps and mapping, pilgrimage – medieval and modern, and Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.
This was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the exhibition which our MEMS MAs co-curated, organised in partnership between MEMS and Special Collections (Templeman) and showcased as part of the annual MEMSFest. The exhibition was produced for the Canterbury Medieval Weekend in May. It demonstrated our strong collaboration with outside partners: CAMEMS, the Beaney (Canterbury City Council), Torin Brown (Canterbury Cathedral), as well as Eastbridge Hospital, the Canterbury HA, CHAS, Kent Archives, Dover Maison Dieu and others. Consequently, we were delighted that the new Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Canterbury could attend and hear from 3 of the MEMS postgraduates involved in the exhibition’s creation: Angela (PhD), Tris and Elijah (MA).
