Entitled, ‘Reading Chaucer’ this year’s lecture will be given by Professor A.S.G. Edwards of the University of Kent. Taking place on Friday, 29th May at 6pm in Rutherford Lecture Theatre 1, this is an open lecture to which all are welcome.
Professor Edwards will discuss the history of modern editing of Chaucer and the ways in which it obscures a proper understanding of what appear to have been his intentions as these are reflected in the manuscripts of his works, particularly his Canterbury Tales.
The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception – all are welcome.
About the speaker: Tony Edwards is Professor of Medieval Manuscripts at the University of Kent.
