The StudentCrowd University Awards are the only independent awards based entirely on verified ac.uk student reviews. This means our students have considered their experience with the campus wi-fi and internet worthy of praise. 24,041 university reviews were analysed to select the top 20 across 11 different categories. The winners are selected based on their average review score over the 24-month period from June 2021 to May 2023. The average review scores are across our university, course and accommodation review categories.
What make a good university Wi-Fi network?
Students are connected to the internet everywhere on campus, usually wirelessly connected to Eduroam, a popular academic Wi-Fi network. Having a fast connection from the moment you arrive on campus makes work for staff and students simpler. Often students want to access online resources, watch lectures or access email from anywhere.
During the academic term, Wi-Fi is needed to submit assignments, join online meetings and contact fellow students. Some students also have many devices connected in their accommodation. Running gaming consoles and streaming TV shows requires an efficient connection to run smoothly. It’s hard to think of anything more important to the university experience than good Wi-Fi!
