An important part of our project on Treasure Hoards involves sharing the outcomes of our research with the public. We have a series of events scheduled over the next few months at the Great North Museum: Hancock, Jewry Wall Museum, Salisbury Museum and Worthing Museum. These events offer a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to hear about our research, learn more about the project, ask us questions and even handle replicas of ancient Roman objects.

James recently led a session at the Great North Museum on ‘What are Roman Hoards?’ This was a gentle introduction to our research and late Roman hoarding, tailored for twenty home-educated children and their families. It was a great session with lots of lively discussion and questions.
The session was very well received, and it was lovely to receive positive feedback from those that attended. Several participants called the session ‘super interesting’ and ‘jargon free’, while another complimented James’s delivery for ‘not talking down to the children’. We are hoping that some of the children will write a short story about late Roman hoards and submit it to our competition, or join us again at the museum later in July.
Upcoming events in July:
