An opportunity has arisen for a member of staff to be seconded to work as the European Centres Finances Officer from January to March 2017. The job description is available here, but please note that following recent changes the jobholder would also be responsible for supervising the work of 1-2 clerical temp staff.
The role is graded as a 6 and would represent a good opportunity for a different experience at Kent and to see the daily workings of one of the major planks of our European University status. The incumbent would be expected to be in post immediately after the Christmas break and the handover will take place over 1 or 2 visits to Brussels in December.
Accommodation in Brussels will be provided along with one return Eurostar ticket per week to enable staff to return to the UK at weekends if they wish. Consideration will be given to staff spending a day per week in Canterbury working on European Centres matters if they wish.
Applications are welcome from staff in grades 5-7. If you are interested, you should discuss with your line manager whether this would be feasible and whether your role can be covered in your absence.
If you want any further details then please feel free to contact either Alastair Ross or even have a chat with Andrea Peett, in the Finance Department who has provided help to Brussels on previous occasions.
