Approval of 2017/18 Tuition Fees **UPDATED 29/6/2016 PM**

This article has been amended since publication.  This is to reflect the fact that Executive Group has confirmed that 2017/18 entrants from the EU should be treated as if they were Home students, for the duration of their studies, at all levels of study.  This position is expected to be approved formally by Council on Friday 1st July 2016. Previously this article stated that no decision had been taken at that time.

 

Tuition fees for 2017/18 for Home/ EU and Overseas students have been approved by Finance and Resource Committee and will be published live on the web by Friday 1st July 2016.

These fees apply to continuing and new students, except where the increase in the fee for continuing students only exceeds 4.6%, in which case the increase will be pegged at 4.6%, in line with the university’s consumer obligations .

At the undergraduate level the following has been agreed:

  • Home/EU Undergraduate fees have been increased to £9,250 for full time students and £4,625 for part time students.
  • Standard foundation year programmes will increase to £9,000 for Home/EU students from 2017/18 which is in line with our Access Agreement.
  • Overseas undergraduate fees have been increased to £13,810 for non-lab subjects and £16,480 for lab subjects.
  • Overseas standard foundation and international foundation programme fees are set at of £13,810.
  • Year in industry fees from 2017/18 will increase to £1,350 for Home/EU/Overseas students.

Following a strategic review of the postgraduate taught fee levels for 2017/18 the following has been agreed:

  • The postgraduate taught base fee for Home/EU students will increase to £6,500.
  • The postgraduate taught base fee for Overseas students for non-lab subjects will increase to £14,670.
  • The postgraduate taught base fee for Overseas students for lab subjects will increase to £16,720.
  • 2.5% for home students and 3.5% for Overseas students has been applied to all other postgraduate fee bands except where schools considered a greater increase was appropriate.

Miscellaneous charges have also been approved for both 2016/17 and 2017/18 each year has been increased by 2.5% these can also be found using the link above.
