Management Accounting and Finance Business Partnering – PSDs

Updated Team Structure

As a result of the need to make required savings in Finance, the Management Accounting and Finance Business Partnering support has been reorganised to better support the University’s Professional Services Departments (PSDs). To ensure resilience and cross-cover, we have reorganised into 3 smaller teams, each led by a Finance Business Partner (FBP), who is ultimately responsible for every PSD in their portfolio but with some delegated authority detailed below.

Each FBP is supported by 1 or 2 Management Accountants (MA) and 1 Assistant Management Accountant (AMA).

Responsibilities

  • Lead:The Lead will be the main point of contact for the senior management of each PSD. They will be available to attend senior directorate meetings, specific finance meetings, the quarterly review meetings with the Finance Sustainability Director and any other strategic meetings as required. They will review and prepare commentary on monthly accounts and complete quarterly forecasts.
  • DeputyThe Deputy will deputise for the lead during short term absences. They will support them with monthly and quarterly tasks and will also be taking responsibility for maintaining the staff establishment (staff lists), approving recruitment (Stonefish) and staff change requests (DB501s)

To ensure that all members are kept informed, best practice would be to include the lead and deputy in all your communications.  The FBP should be included in any critical or strategic points or issues. In addition to the above, the Assistant Management Accountant will support the activity of the non-pay review panel and post monthly journals. If you are in any doubt about who to contact, please email managementaccounts@kent.ac.uk and the team will redirect your email to the correct person.

Introductory meetings will be arranged in the next month or two, but if you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
