Following the Finance Directorate’s restructure last year we are now close to filling most of the gaps in our team structure. This means that we’ll be able to make the changes to how we work that we planned and take some pressure off overstretched individuals. I wanted to take the opportunity to announce and welcome some recent and forthcoming arrivals:
- Henry Wereko has now joined as the Assistant Director of Finance (Operations). He has a wide range of experience in diverse sectors, but especially in charities. Working with Odette, Gordon, Steve and Aidan he has overall responsibility for Payments, Payroll, Insurance, Student Financial Services, Financial Reporting and Finance Systems. Henry’s based in the Registry.
- Lisa Clarke will join us for a year from 6th April to provide interim cover for Odette as she takes a career break from her role as Student Financial Services Manager. Lisa has been working at Deakin University in Australia.
- Agata Berger will join us on 18th April as PA to the Director and the Assistant Directors of Finance, working alongside Ella Wood in the general office. Agata has worked at the Innovation Centre on our campus and knows Kent quite well.
Over the next few months we’ll be welcoming others into the team, including Sarah Cornelius as Business Partner in Management Accounts, and also Debbie Howard who will be an interim Business Partner (while Katie is on secondment to Financial Aid for a year) as well as Paul Cunningham who will be the Research and Innovation Project Accountant.
This should largely complete our restructure and we will then be able to progress further on key initiatives including best supporting the devolved divisions, delivering finance training and business partnering to PSDs.
