With the move to Key Travel, and the changing nature of rail bookings, the University is to discontinue use of Rail Warrants when the current set of books are exhausted.
Rail Warrant books have become less widely used over the past decade and their use now incurs considerable additional costs. All books currently in circulation can continue to be used, but the Procurement Department will not be issuing new ones.
The new Key Travel contract will offer online and telephone booking mechanisms for rail journeys ; telephone bookings will incur a charge. Please note that if you wish to book on behalf of others, you can do so ; however they will need to pick up the booking from a nominated station.
In order to do so, they can normally do so from the machines (or manned ticket booth) with the booking mechanism and proof of ID : for the automated machines, any card with a magnetic strip should suffice ; ideally a bank card, but we are informed other cards such as a Tesco Clubcard can also work.
In event of any queries, please contact Procurement.
