Pension Scheme Changes

Both the USS And SAUL pension schemes are currently undergoing changes which will affect the way you build up your pension entitlement.  If you are a member or considering becoming a member of either of these schemes you may be affected by these changes.  For more information on these changes and how they might affect you, please visit the Kent website http://www.kent.ac.uk/human-resources/.  The changes to these schemes are considered necessary and both USS and SAUL have undertaken a period of consultation to allow members to comment on the proposals and provide feedback.

USS

The Consultation on the proposed changes for USS ran from 16 March 2015 to 22 May 2015 and has now closed.  The responses to the consultation are currently being considered and final details of the changes will soon be sent to all current USS members and eligible employees by email.

SAUL

The Consultation on the proposed changes for SAUL commenced on 13 July and will run until 13 September.

All current members and eligible employees will have received hard copy and email consultation information.

The University are running presentations and one-to-one clinics to further explain the proposals.  Details of the presentations and clinics can be found on posters around the University and also on the HR intranet here: http://www.kent.ac.uk/hr-staffinformation/saul-consultation/Index.html?resources=&tab=resources

Resources have also been made available by SAUL to provide members and eligible employees with further information; this includes a calculator which will help show the affect on your pension of the proposed changes.  This information can be found here: http://www.saul.org.uk/1/972

Should you have any questions on the changes, please read the consultation booklet and attend a presentation; the Pensions Department will then be able to help with any further queries that you may have.
