Professor Vybarr Cregan-Reid, Professor of English and Environmental Humanities in the School of English, will act as coach for a new running course entitled A Good Runner, which begins on Tuesday 30 June, 2020.
A Good Runner will give participants the knowledge, tools and mindset to become a confident, resilient, strong and mindful runner. Over 10 live Zoom classes, the course will dive into mobility, strength and conditioning, mechanics, daily habits, stretching and explore what it means to be a good runner, and how as humans we are born to move and run.
The course has come out of the ever-growing Love Trails Festival and gathers together expertise from all over the world.
Vybarr has has written widely on the subjects of literature, health, nature and the environment for the BBC, The Guardian, The Independent, the Telegraph, The Sunday Times, Countryfile, the Mail, The Washington Post and numerous others. He is also the author of several books including Primate Change: How the world We Made is Remaking Us (Hachette, 2018), which investigates where we came from, who we are today and how modern technology will change us beyond recognition, and Footnotes: How Running Makes Us Human (Penguin, 2017), which explores why running is so important.
