Refugee Tales featured on BBC Radio 4’s Ramblings

Clare Balding walks and talks with refugees and activists about the issue of indefinite detention

In Ramblings, broadcaster and journalist Clare Balding joins interesting and notable people to talk and walk along interesting routes in the British countryside.

This week Clare joined up with activists, asylum seekers and refugees participating in the Refugee Tales project, to walk the Surrey hills and discuss their stories and the wider issue of indefinite immigration detention.

During the broadcast Clare spoke to the School of English’s own David Herd, who talked more about how the act of telling and listening to stories has the power to make a tangible difference to society.

Refugee Tales is an outreach project of Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group inspired by the experiences of men held in immigration detention at Gatwick and the work of the Group over the last 20 years.
