MA student Megan Warwick nominated for Kent Student Award

Kent Student Awards

Congratulations to Megan Warwick, currently studying MA Creative Writing in the School of English, who has been nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Fundraising award at the Kent Student Awards 2020.

The Kent Student Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution students make to the Kent student experience. The Outstanding Contribution to Fundraising category recognises students who have devoted their time to fundraising, and making a real difference for their student group, a charity or other good causes.

Megan says: ‘my fundraising has mainly consisted of being one of the four members of the UKC Movember committee. The committee this year were responsible for encouraging sports/societies at Kent to get involved with Movember, attend events, as well as host their own. As a committee, we set out to host an event every day (virtually and in person). From social media Tash Wednesdays, pub quizzes, bingo and many more, we raised awareness and funds for the Movember foundation. As a whole, we raised over £17,000 as a university. The hard work couldn’t have been possible without everyone involved. As President of Women’s Lacrosse at Kent, the committee and I also organised a very successful fundraiser for MIND charity. It was a NEON night at the campus nightclub The Venue, and raised over £1000. It also raised awareness for speaking out about mental health and supporting one another’.

The Kent Student Awards virtual ceremony will take place on Monday 20 July at 3pm on the University of Kent’s YouTube acccount:
