School of English ranks highly in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017

In this year’s Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide (published this week) the School of English ranked 16th out of 105 institutions. This news, which follows the recent announcement that we achieved an exceptionally high overall satisfaction rate of 95% (and a rank of 14th) in the National Student Survey 2016, confirms the School’s position as of the leading departments in the country.

The criteria used by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide includes an analysis of student satisfaction with the quality of the teaching in each department, as well as with the wider university experience. The School scored particularly highly in the area of graduate prospects, where we were ranked 14th out of 105 institutions.

Welcoming the new league table results, Professor David Herd, Head of the School of English commented:

‘Following recent high positions in the Guardian League Table, and the NSS – in both of which we are currently placed 14th – this high ranking in the Times Good University Guide confirms that Kent is an excellent first choice for ambitious English students. As a dynamic and supportive School we work hard to provide an academic community in which all students can thrive. Our curriculum is outward looking and international and builds on the newest developments in the field. We are delighted that the 2017 league tables continue to recognise the value of this approach.’
