Two academic staff in the School of English appeared in this month’s Literary Review. Amy Sackville has reviewed Amy Liptrot’s new memoir The Outrun. The book is a personal account of the author’s retreat from London to Orkney (the place of her birth) in an attempt to recover from alcoholism.
In the same issue, Dr Vybarr Cregan-Reid’s essay ‘Run, Writer, Run’ appears, in which he discusses the recent emergence of running literature and how it fits into a much longer tradition of nature writing and other kinds of walking literature.
