English Literature was one of the University of Kent’s founding subjects. To celebrate the milestone of fifty years at the forefront of local, national and international literary studies the School has been hosting a Festival of English throughout 2015. Patience Agbabi (Shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry 2014) is a sought-after poet, performer, mentor and Fellow in Creative Writing at Oxford Brookes University and has been the Festival ‘Poet in Residence’ during this exciting year of celebrations. Patience will be reading from poems created for this year’s residency at 6pm on Monday 5 October in Grimond Lecture Theatre 2. A wine reception to follow in the Grimond foyer. All welcome.
