The Research Excellence Framework 2014 has produced very strong results for the School of English at Kent. With 74% of our work graded as world-leading or internationally excellent, the School is ranked 10th out of 89 English Departments in terms of Research Intensity (Times Higher Educational Supplement, 1.1.2015). The School also received an outstanding assessment of the quality of its research environment and public impact work.
Commenting on the results, the Head of School, Professor David Herd said, ‘I am very pleased to see that the high quality of the School’s research has been recognized by the REF. As well as being highly committed teachers, all staff in the School of English at Kent are leading researchers in their field. The results confirm that the School is a dynamic intellectual environment in which to work and study, and also that we have a clear understanding of the public value of research. We look forward to building on these achievements in the years to come.’
