Matt Kramer, a recent graduate from the School of English, was recently awarded a three-month paid internship with Coca-Cola Enterprises as a result of his engagement with the University of Kent Employability Points Scheme. The scheme was designed to reward students for active engagement in extracurricular activities during their time at the University of Kent, encouraging students to stand out to prospective employers in the process. Matt signed up for the scheme following an introductory lecture to welcome School of English students back for their second year of study. Through engaging in a range of activates Matt gained over 300 points in total which enabled him to apply for an internship with Coca-Cola Enterprises. After a successful interview Matt managed to secure an internship in the Talent Acquisition department which began in June 2014.
Matt commented that he would recommend the experience to other students.
“I have garnered such a broad knowledge of both the working world as a whole, and human resources, by working in the Talent Acquisition department. Completing the internship has and will continue to reward me with countless, invaluable professional contacts who have helped me in my career development. I’ve had the opportunity to grow my professional profile and I have been approached by numerous external employers, all of whom are impressed by my position at such a high-profile company and have discussed potential opportunities working with them in the coming months. All of this has come as a result of The Employability Points Scheme.”
