Star dancers come to Kent

Two university dance enthusiasts (including our very own Head of School, Professor Peter Brown) recently enjoyed a meeting with TV dancing stars, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace.

Peter Brown and Linda Lough, (Faculty Administration Manager for Sciences) met the Strictly Come Dancing stars as part of the University’s corporate membership of the Marlowe Theatre. Vincent and Flavia were appearing in Midnight Tango from 15-20 July at the Theatre in Canterbury.

Peter, a keen Tango dancer, was taught by Flavia before she and Vincent became TV stars. He said: ‘She was down to earth, encouraging, and inspired confidence: in short, a model teacher.’

Linda said afterwards: ‘It was a lovely afternoon. We were delighted to meet Vincent and Flavia who were relaxed and friendly and answered questions quite openly and with humour’.

The university enjoys a close relationship with both of the theatres in Canterbury. The Marlowe Theatre and the Gulbenkian Theatre (on the university’s Canterbury campus) offer excellent discounts for students and a diverse range of performances including theatre, comedy and dance.
