Every year postgraduate students from the School of English organise a Graduate Conference which takes place on the Canterbury campus. This year’s conference is entitled ‘Transactions’ and is inspired by Virginia Woolf:
‘Was not writing poetry a secret transaction, a voice answering a voice?’
(Virginia Woolf, from Orlando)
The theme of this year’s graduate conference is offered in an intertextual, interdisciplinary spirit. Transactions is about dialogue, exchange and interaction -between and through cultures, languages, texts, places and people on a local regional and global scale. Creating this space for crossovers and connections, the conference will seek to open up diverse, creative responses from all areas of graduate study. In keeping with the interaction and dialogue between the schools scholars and creative writers the conference will be followed by an evening of creative writing performances.
