Dr Norbert Bugeja, Lecturer in Postcolonial Literature at the School of English, has been invited to address the Media, English and Culture Seminar within the School of the Arts at the University of Northampton. In his seminar paper, Dr Bugeja discussed a number of affinities between present-day life-narratives in Turkey, the early Turkish Republican writers, and notions of discursive melancholy and political ressentiment. His talk was introduced by Professor Janet Wilson, who also presented Dr Bugeja’s new book, Postcolonial Memoir in the Middle East (Routledge, 2012) to those present. The talk forms part of a number of academic engagements in which Dr Bugeja is discussing his new monograph with various scholarly audiences.
