The winner of the School of Engineering CAD challenge 2021-22 has been announced! Congratulations to Nathan Wickenden, first year BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering student on his winning entry.
The competition was run on five design challenges, among which the students had to choose and attempt one challenge, and record a video of their process and result. Students across our three Engineering courses entered the competition for the chance to win the top prize.
Engineering academics shortlisted the top three ‘Technically Accurate’ designs and votes were cast earlier this month to decide the winning entry.
Nathan won the competition with his design for Challenge 2, with runners up Richard Koester (BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering) and Joseph D’Agostino (BEng (Hons) Electronic and Computer Engineering with a Year in Industry).
Dr Mahmoud Shafiee, Head of Mechanical Engineering, said: ‘we received very high quality 3D CAD drawings and interesting videos for this year’s competition and it was difficult for the assessment panel to choose the winner. We are proud of all our students in the School of Engineering and their achievements in and out of the classroom. The top 3 shortlisted students will be invited to join the University team for the UK design challenge in 2022′.
The top 3 competition submissions are available to watch below – thank you to all our entrants!
