Mechanical Engineering Group receives the University Teaching Excellence Award

The Mechanical Engineering Group at the School of Engineering has been awarded the University of Kent’s Teaching Excellence Award. The Awards take place annually to recognise outstanding members of the teaching community within the University of Kent.

The panel commented: “This was a fantastic achievement in which the team established a new and thriving programme which students have welcomed. Recruitment and esteem have increased in a short period of time, curricula development is innovative and aligned with the Universities strategic objective of employability. There is much evidence of planning for the future and is typified by redevelopment of labourites, the inclusion of work integrated learning and opportunities for student self-reflection”.

Dr Mahmoud Shafiee, Head of Mechanical Engineering, said: ‘We are proud of receiving the Teaching Excellence Award from the hand of Professor Richard Reece, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Education & Student Experience at the University of Kent.
