Canterbury City Council is the local government authority in Canterbury.
Canterbury City Council provides district council services to around 150,000 people living in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and the surrounding villages. These services include rubbish and recycling collections, parks and gardens, public toilets, council tax and housing benefit, tourism, planning applications, licensing, economic development, town and city centre management, foreshore services, festivals and museums. The council employs around 500 staff. There are 50 elected councillors and the council is run by a Conservative administration.
