The department of English Language and Linguistics at Kent is a young, dynamic and growing research institution in the South-East of England. Members of the department specialise in applied, experimental and theoretical linguistics, sociolinguistics and stylistics. In addition to English and its varieties, we work on French, German, Greek, Romani, Spanish, Korean and Russian.

Modern Languages and Linguistics at Kent achieved an outstanding result in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework exercise by being ranked 3rd in the UK.
