- Julio Hernandez-Castro set up the Kent Cyber Crime Survey and we reported on that. The news release led to stories in most national newspapers, of which The Guardian expanded a little on our information, as did TechWorld. (A short paper on this has been accepted by a journal, more news soon.)
- I was asked by the Guardian to comment on the Santander cyber-robbery and later published some further thoughts on this and the similar Barclays story in The Conversation.
- Farzin Deravi and I initially commented on the new iPhone’s fingerprint sensor, and when a successful attack on it was published I commented on that on TheConversation, a piece which was then picked up by Scientific American.
- I was involved in drafting and signed an Open Letter by UK cryptography and security researchers (any overlap with CryptoForma coincidental) which got a mention in the Guardian.
- I had a few chats with David Holmes of Pando about the NSA scandals and encryption, leading to a few quotes in his general intro to encryption, and in a report on the November 2013 White House review.
