EAT-PDP Project launch

Engaging Alumni through Personal Development Planning is an 18 month JISC funded project led by Steve Coppin, Learning and Research Development Manager in Information Services.

The project, a collaboration between Information Services,  the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (UELT), Kent Innovation and Enterprise (KIE), Alumni Relations Office (ARO) and Careers Advisory Service (CAS) aims to explore ways of extending and enhancing the student life cycle using the myfolio web-based software. myfolio is the University of Kent’ s implementation of the Mahara e-portfolio software.

myfolio is a web-based tool that gives the users powerful yet easy to use tools for building on-line portfolios and for personal development planning. myfolio gives the learner the tools to bring together evidence of skills, achievements and learning using documents, images and video to create on-line personal, customisable folios. Links to customised e-folios can be published to employers, tutors and colleagues. Personal reflection and development is encouraged by built-in blogging  and networking tools.

Through focus groups and feedback from early adopters of myfolio, the project aims to prove the link between web-based PDP and a mutually beneficial alumni relationship.
