The Classical & Archaeological Studies department of SECL (School of European Culture & Languages) of the University of Kent have teamed up with the North East Lincolnshire Archaeological and History Society to investigate some sites of archaeological interest along the Lincolnshire Wolds. This has not been our first year exploring the area and we hope to make some good progress over the coming weeks.
The project has been organised and is led by Dr Steve Willis, University of Kent and David Robinson, on behalf of the local society (NELALHS). Steve is a specialist in later prehistory and the Roman period and David chairs the Society.
The Kent team combines experienced field archaeologists and undergraduate students who are sponsored by bursaries from the University. Members of the Society have participated in the project over a number of years and their enthusiasm and knowledge of fieldwork techniques provide a great example for the undergraduate students.
